The installation process and precautions of ball valves are key to ensuring their normal operation, extending their service life, and ensuring system safety. The following is a detailed installation process and precautions:
1、 Installation process
1. Preparation before installation
• Check the valve: Confirm that the ball valve model, specifications, and design requirements are consistent, inspect the appearance for damage, and ensure that the components are complete.
• Clean the pipeline: Remove impurities, welding slag, oil stains, etc. inside the pipeline to ensure cleanliness and prevent impurities from entering the valve and affecting the sealing performance.
• Confirm pipeline support: Ensure that the pipeline can withstand the weight of the ball valve, and install support brackets if necessary to avoid valve damage due to pipeline stress.
• Check the flow direction of the medium: Confirm that the installation direction of the valve is consistent with the flow direction of the medium to avoid valve failure caused by reverse installation.
2. Installation operation
• Connection method selection: Choose the appropriate connection method (flange connection, threaded connection, welding connection, etc.) according to the design requirements.
• Flange connection:
Align the flanges at both ends of the valve with the pipeline flange, ensuring that the flange sealing surface is parallel.
Install the sealing gasket, ensuring that the gasket is undamaged and in the correct position.
Tighten the bolts symmetrically and evenly to avoid leakage caused by uneven force.
• Threaded connection:
Apply sealant or wrap tape around the threads to ensure sealing.
Avoid excessive force when screwing in the valve to prevent thread damage.
• Welding connection:
Disassemble the valve before welding to prevent internal parts from being damaged by welding heat.
Check the quality of the weld seam after welding to ensure that there are no defects such as cracks or pores.
Vertical installation requirements: Ball valves with actuators (such as pneumatic and electric) should be installed upright, ensuring that the driving device is above the pipeline for easy operation and maintenance.
3. Check after installation
• Manual operation test: Manually open and close the valve several times to check whether the action is flexible and whether there is any jamming phenomenon.
• Airtightness test: Introduce the medium and check for leaks at the connection between the valve and the pipeline.
• Performance testing: Apply pressure before and after the valve to check whether the sealing performance and flow capacity meet the design requirements.
• Debugging of actuator: Connect the gas source or power supply, debug the actuator to ensure that the valve operates normally under automatic control.
2、 Precautions
1. Installation environment requirements
• Avoid installation in high temperature, humid or corrosive environments, and take protective measures if necessary.
• Ensure that the installation location is easy to operate and maintain, leaving sufficient space for valve maintenance.
2. Operating standards
• During installation, avoid hitting or dropping the valve to prevent damage.
• Do not use ball valves as throttling valves to avoid damage to the sealing surface caused by high-speed fluid flushing.
• When operating the handle or actuator, avoid applying excessive force to ensure smooth opening and closing.
3. Maintenance and upkeep
• Regularly clean the inside of the valve to prevent impurities and deposits from affecting the sealing performance.
• Check the seals and packing, and replace them promptly if wear or aging is found.
• Lubricate the valve stem and transmission components to ensure flexible operation.
4. Safety precautions
• Before installation, it is necessary to confirm that there is no pressure inside the pipeline to prevent medium leakage from causing safety accidents.
• Follow safety regulations during welding operations to prevent fires or explosions.
• Do not use valve actuators as lifting points to avoid damaging equipment.
5. Special working condition requirements
• For low-temperature valves, a cold opening and closing test must be conducted before installation to ensure flexibility and no jamming.
• After the installation of high-temperature valves, a "hot tightening" operation is required to prevent bolts from expanding due to heat and causing leakage.
• When operating non-metallic valves, it is necessary to control the force to avoid damage.
